In Photos: Trip Highlights, Food Edition

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I took an awful lot of photos on our recent trip to White Rock. And because I had just so many photos I wanted to share, I decided to split them into food and non-food photos. Saturday’s share was the non-food family stuff, and this post is the best of the delicious things that I ate on vacation. So, so many delicious things!

Sho Chiku Sushi

Sushi night out with my husband. Obligatory menu shot.

Sho Chiku Sushi

Delicious, delicious rolls. From the top left: Tango Mango, French Kiss, and Crazy Roll.

Sho Chiku Sushi

More delicious rolls. From the top left (back): Akai, Jungle, and Fried Onion Crunch. The Jungle roll had deep-fried banana inside, and banana on top. BANANA! And it was amazing.

Moby Dick

Our absolute favourite place for fish & chips!

Moby Dick

Deep fried deliciousness. We ordered a 3 piece fish & chips plate to share between us & the kids, and we got four pieces. Mmmmm.

Moby Dick

This is outside at 1pm on a weekday afternoon. There was a 20-minute wait. I’m tellin’ ya, the food is worth it.

Jimmy Flynn's

Lamb & fried onion poutine at Jimmy Flynn’s Celtic Snug. Heaven on potatoes.

Jimmy Flynn's

Deep fried brie. There are no adequate words to describe this.

Jimmy Flynn's

A giant yorkie stuffed with roast beef and slathered in gravy. Sweet, sweet gravy.

So much good food crammed into just one week! I think now I get to eat salad for a month to make up for all that pure indulgence.

In Photos: Trip Highlights

Phew, what a whirlwind week it has been! We’ve been in White Rock, BC, staying with my in-laws and catching up with many of our Lower Mainland friends for the past week. But rather than bore you all with a blah-blah-blah about the trip, I thought I’d just share the highlights in photo form. This is a series of snapshots rather than carefully-crafted images for two reasons: 1) I didn’t bring my DSLR {gasp! the horror!}; and 2) I am using my in-laws’ computer, and the best photo editor I have at my disposal is PicMonkey. I miss Photoshop so very much.

In the interest of not sharing too much in a single blog post, I’ve split my photo retrospective into a few parts. This one is the highlight reel of our Lower Mainland visit, not including all the delicious food I have eaten. The food post is one all its own, and it will be coming in a couple of days. Otherwise, this blog post would be far too long!

Now that our visit here is done, the road trip continues – we drive to Revelstoke for the remainder of the Easter weekend {and Easter will be a photoblog all its own, I think!}. It has been such a great time, filled with friends and fun for the kids. We really can’t wait to do it again.

Race Day!

First race of the season: 8K in 55:06! And what a great race it was, I love running the Stanley Park seawall.

Race Day!

Why yes, I did just run 8K. Excuse me while I go find somewhere to lie down.

The street food on Robson smelled amazing! And this one was pretty cool to look at, too.

Chillin' with my bud. Pardon our windswept beach hair, it's not exactly what magazines would lead you to believe casual beachy hair should look like.

In Photos: Food Edition will be coming soon!

It’s spring break, and we decided to pack up and visit family while Eliza is off school for a week. We drove from Calgary to Vancouver over two days, and these are some of the photo highlights of our drive.

Road Trippin'

Superstar in the back seat, excited to be on the road!

Road Trippin'

Stopped for highway work. Thankfully it wasn’t a lot wait, or a long line.

Road Trippin'

Filthy car from a dirty winter highway.

Road Trippin'

Scenic rest stop near Cache Creek.

Road Trippin'

Stretching her legs!

Road Trippin'

Did you see that truck?

Road Trippin'

Road trip guacamole – a family tradition.

Road Trippin'

Pit stop #1 – visiting with Grumpa

Road Trippin'

I used to live here!

Road Trippin'

Tunnel! The kids yelled all the way through. This did not get old at all as we passed through six more. Actually, it got old before we even got out of the first tunnel.

Road Trippin'

Beautiful winter canyon.

Road Trippin'

Rain.

Road Trippin'

Sleepy dude.

We have a full week planned, including trips to Science World and the Vancouver Aquarium! I’m sure there will be more of these photo posts to come while we’re away, because it’s an easy thing for me to post from a computer that isn’t mine.
