Bourbon Peach Cocktail #LMDConnector

Bourbon Peach

It’s the last weekend in August, and summer is drawing rapidly to a close. Evenings are cooler, the harvesting of gardens and orchards is in full swing. It’s a time for getting your kids ready to go back to school, last-hurrah camping trips and barbecues, one last weekend of fun before reality of fall routines sets back in. For me, the end of summer is bittersweet – as much as I love the warm summer weather, the freedom, the lazy days, I also crave the return of routine, of “normal”.

There is still plenty of delicious fresh produce to be had, though, and one of my favourites, one that I’ve been waiting all summer for, is the peach. We buy peaches by the case in late August and early September. Huge, juicy, delicious peaches straight from the Okanagan. We eat them fresh, with cream and a sprinkle of vanilla sugar, or baked into pies and muffins and crisps, or preserved into vibrant, flavour-intense jams. The peach has inspired my recipe this month, and I’ve decided to take a different direction and share a cocktail. I received some lovely crystal martini glasses from the Life Made Delicious team as part of my participation in the Life Made Delicious program, and it seemed perfect to show them off with a fresh, summery cocktail made with an essential summer flavour: the peach.
